Milwaukee Happy Note–April 28th, 29th, and 30th, 2023

New Tulip Blooms

Mornin’ All,

Happy Friday, Happy (almost) Weekend, and Happy End of the Week!😃

Well, there was some sadness at Milwaukee Happy Note this past week. And that sadness made me look at the power of memories and their emotions. It’s funny how a memory can hook me and carry me into its attached emotion. And it sure seems that sad and dark memories/emotions have a whole lot more pull and gravity than happy stuff. So the last few days I’ve been working on letting dark memories come and go without letting them hook me into a dark place emotionally. At the same time I’m letting happy things hook me big-time and lift me up into better and happier places. Having a whole bank account of happy is a really good and helpful (and healthy) thing when those dark and sad things/times hit (they always do and sometimes you never see them coming). So I’m looking to the happy and I’m looking forward to a happy weekend complete with new memories and emotions to store away in my happy bank account.

-Live Music/Comedy? Holy Crap Everywhere! Venues include ComedySportz, Shank Hall, Rave, Cactus Club, Jazz Estate, Ally’s Bistro, Red Rock Saloon, Da Bar, Helene Zelazo, Miller High Life Theater, County Clare, Nashville North, Colectivo, X-Ray Arcade, Linneman’s Riverwest Inn, Bar, Centro, Turner Hall Ballroom, Miramar, Club Girabaldi, Fiserv, Potawatomi, Sugar Maple, Cooperage, Suburban Bourbon, Anodyne, Mad Planet, Blu Milwaukee, Sharon Lynne Wilson, Riverside, Pabst, etc., etc., etc.

Ramadan Mubarack! Sending best wishes to our Muslim sisters and brothers during this most Holy time of Ramadan.

Not only is it Ramadan, it’s officially Spring! But what’s this I hear? More snow’s on the way? No way! It’s one thing to get a bunch of skiable snow in January that’ll be hangin’ around (and be SKIABLE) for a bunch of weeks. But Spring Milwaukee snow? Usually a bunch of sloppy damp slush. No matter! Grab some wool socks, a cozy blanket, some candles, and a hot beverage and do as the Danes do: Hygge! Or maybe get out there and explore a bunch of awesome (indoor) things around Milwaukee!

Milwaukee Happy Note–March 10th, 11th, and 12th, 2023

Cute little something blooming at Boerner Botanical Gardens this past weekend. Spring is on its way.😊

Mornin’ All,

Happy Friday, Happy (almost) Weekend, and Happy End of the Week!

Ahhh, Spring Break is finally upon us. Not that you’d know it from the latest snow storm. Spring Break…that all important yearly rite when we pack a toothbrush and a pair of underwear and drive…anywhere! Truth be told, though, my Spring Breaks were more like pack my French Horn and tuxedo and go on band tour (a night on Bourbon Street during Tour ain’t a bad thing though).

Not only is it Spring Break, it’s that most Holy of Holy times…St. Patrick’s Day! A Holy Holiday completely given to…BEER!!! St. Patrick’s Day isn’t even here. But the parties are already near. So let’s keep praying for another beer and perhaps St. Patrick will appear. Kiss me, I’m Irish!!! Is that clear?☘️

-Milwaukee Chamber Theater presents the world premiere performance of Hoops with ongoing performances through April 2nd (I hear there might be some good hoops at Fiserv Forum as well).

Baby Gentoo Penguin at the Milwaukee County Zoo.

Mornin’ All,

Happy Friday, Happy (almost) Weekend, and Happy End of the Week!😃

Well, this may not be the happiest of weekends for my Fourth Year Student Dentists. Board Exam!!! Ugh!!! That rite of passage that ALL we dental folk have to endure. I can say with some certainty and/or experience that, yes, board exams suck. However, there is a plethora of outstanding life to be lived after cresting that wave. Just another bump on the road to success. And it builds character (or gray hairs and/or atherosclerotic plaques).

Like previous Happy Notes, contained herein there may just be a few little happy things to do this weekend. And, yes, board exams suck (did I mention this already?). But maybe taking a little time this weekend to forget the sucky stuff and get out there and do some unsucky stuff will be just what the doctor (of diddly squat…DDS) ordered. Winter! Snow!! Seriously? Is it really back? Umm, yes (I guess it’s still February?). What is this craziness?! Warmth, heavy rain, crazy winds, heavy snow…the weather has been CRAZY since last weekend’s Happy Note. Well, it’s snow and I’ll take it (for however long/short it might stay around). Have I ever talked about how much I like snow and get stupid excited when we get heavy snow (yeah, I think I have)? Maybe whenever there’s heavy snow I’m just hoping that school will be cancelled and I can make snow angels all day long (score…got it!)?
