Milwaukee Happy Note–March 31st, April 1st, and April 2nd, 2023

Happy Friday, Happy (almost) Weekend, and Happy End of the Week!😃

Is it Spring? Is it Winter? How about..Sprinter?! With a little touch of Spring. And a little splinter of Winter. Add a splash of rain. And a smattering of snow. It’s what we have to bear living where? Milwaukee! Don’t like the weather? Give it ten minutes and, who knows, it might get better! In spite of the weather, and us being smack in the middle of the semester, we’re right now feeling better…cuz its Friday and weekend is near!

Interested in a few Milwaukee weekend things to do? Well, without further ado here are a few Milwaukee weekend things for you (weekend of March 31st, April 1st, and April 2nd, 2023):

-Home & Garden Show wraps up this weekend at State Fair Park (perhaps our weather will allow me to get into my garden for a little cleaning and maintenance before…June?🤷‍♂️).

-Carthage College Theater presents Away From The Mirror (this weekend only).

-The Accountants of Homeland Security present The Lost Show at the Interchange Theater Co-Op (I guess the show isn’t lost anymore?).

-Trailbreaker Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K at Frame Park in Waukesha (too late for me to train🤷‍♂️).

-Jorge Masvidal’s Gamebred Boxing at Fiserv (🥊).

-Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra presents Brahms v. Radiohead.

-Milwaukee Chamber Theatre wraps up its performances of Hoops this weekend.

-Riveredge Nature Center presents Outdoor Pancake Breakfast (of course it comes with maple syrup 🍁).

-Family Hop Week: Free & Fun Activities On Board The Streetcar continues through April 8th (seems like its running more than just a week…unless a week has turned into fourteen days?🤷‍♂️).

-Art For All at Colectivo Coffee in Tosa (how ‘bout coffee for all as well?).

-Midwest Gaming Classic at the Wisconsin Center (ooh, pinball!!!).

-Cats of Wisconsin Cat Show at the Waukesha Expo Center (oh yeah!🐈‍⬛).

Maui says yes to cat shows.

-Mutts Gone Nuts at the Schauer Center in Hartford (I’m probably going to the cat show…just sayin’).

-Waukesha Civic Theater continues it performances of Rent through May 26th (Rent free? Umm…nope).

-Milwaukee Public Museum’s Survival of the Slowest continues to slowly make its way through to May 19th (🦥🐌).

-Red Hot Chilli Pipers at the Marcus Performing Arts Center (big shout out to my British Isles roots).

-Milwaukee Bucks are at home against the 76er’s (big game!).

-Winterlude at Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum (I guess it still feels like a splinter of winter from time to time?🤷‍♂️).

-Lakeside Players of Kenosha wraps up its performances of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None this weekend (yep, there eventually will be none…performances after this weekend that is).

-Milwaukee Repertory Theater wraps up its performances of August Wilson’s Seven Guitars this weekend (🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸).

-Skylight Music Theater wraps up its performances of Noises Off this weekend (wow, it’s like death of a Milwaukee theater production one by one this weekend😱).

-Renaissance Theaterworks continues its performances of Tidy through April 16th (whew, the Milwaukee theater scene was starting to look a little grim…there is hope…at least until April 16th).

-MIAD New Studio Practice: Fine Arts Group Show debuts this weekend with exhibits open through April 14th (🎨).

-April Fool’s Comedy & Magic Show at the Brumder Mansion.

-Milwaukee Admirals are at home against Laval Rocket.

-The Schneider House: An Artistic Evening in a Cream City Victorian added an extra night this weekend (maybe there’ll be an evening in a Tudor or an American Craftsman?).

-Schlitz Audubon Nature Center presents: Morning Guided Forest Bathing (bring soap and a towel 😉); Saturday Morning Bird Walk (walk like a bird 🐥?); Family Birding; Raptor Saturday (don’t feed the velociraptors 🦖); Rocks Rock!; and Word With a Bird (what word would a bird say?).

-Wehr Nature Center presents Woodcocks, Wood Frogs, and Wine (or BEER!).

-Urban Ecology Center presents Family Fishing Basics (basically it’s just fishing).

-UW Milwaukee Manfred Olsen Planetarium presents Astronomical Wonders (aren’t they wonderful 🪐?).

-Angelic Roots in Oak Creek presents Developing Your Intuition.

-How about reading a fun fiction rom-com novel set in Milwaukee? How about The Coincidence of Coconut Cake by Amy Reichert (don’t be thinkin’ I might be a little romantic at heart…OK, I might be…slightly 🤷‍♂️)?

-Live Music/Comedy? Holy Crap Everywhere! Venues include ComedySportz, Shank Hall, Rave, Cactus Club, Jazz Estate, Ally’s Bistro, Red Rock Saloon, Da Bar, Helene Zelazo, Miller High Life Theater, County Clare, Nashville North, Colectivo, X-Ray Arcade, Linneman’s Riverwest Inn, Bar, Centro, Turner Hall Ballroom, Miramar, Club Girabaldi, Fiserv, Potawatomi, Sugar Maple, Cooperage, Suburban Bourbon, Anodyne, Mad Planet, Blu Milwaukee, Sharon Lynne Wilson, Riverside, Pabst, etc., etc., etc.
