Milwaukee Happy Note–March 10th, 11th, and 12th, 2023

Cute little something blooming at Boerner Botanical Gardens this past weekend. Spring is on its way.😊

Mornin’ All,

Happy Friday, Happy (almost) Weekend, and Happy End of the Week!

Ahhh, Spring Break is finally upon us. Not that you’d know it from the latest snow storm. Spring Break…that all important yearly rite when we pack a toothbrush and a pair of underwear and drive…anywhere! Truth be told, though, my Spring Breaks were more like pack my French Horn and tuxedo and go on band tour (a night on Bourbon Street during Tour ain’t a bad thing though).

Not only is it Spring Break, it’s that most Holy of Holy times…St. Patrick’s Day! A Holy Holiday completely given to…BEER!!! St. Patrick’s Day isn’t even here. But the parties are already near. So let’s keep praying for another beer and perhaps St. Patrick will appear. Kiss me, I’m Irish!!! Is that clear?☘️

Interested in a few Milwaukee weekend things to do? Well, without further ado here are a few Milwaukee things for you (weekend of March 10th, 11th, and 12th):

-Plant-itary garden train show is still hauling freight (and passengers…micro passengers) through the Milwaukee Domes through March 26th.

-Sunset Playhouse continues its performances of The Cemetery Club through March 19th (I hear people are dying to get in there?).

-Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Sports Show at State Fair Park (not baseball, football, and basketball sports…fishin’, huntin’, boatin’, and campin’ outdoorsy Wisconsin sports).

-Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra presents the Branford Marsalis Quartet AND Rick Steves’ Europe: A Symphonic Journey (perhaps a sentimental journey as well???).

-Milwaukee Chamber Theater presents the world premiere performance of Hoops with ongoing performances through April 2nd (I hear there might be some good hoops at Fiserv Forum as well).

-Quilting Stars Show at the Waukesha Expo Center (and if you get cold I imagine there may be some quilts to help get you cozy???).

-Mama Said: A Reflection on Maternal Figures at Latino Arts Inc. through March 28th.

-Urban Ecology Center presents Upcycled Candle Making Workshop (a little candlelight to make you even cozier when you’re all wrapped up in a quilt).

-Milwaukee Repertory Theater continues performances of Dino! An Evening with Dean Martin AND The Heart Sellers through March 19th.

-Milwaukee Repertory Theater debuts August Wilson’s Seven Guitars with performances through April 2nd (seven guitars for seven brothers???).

-Milwaukee School of Engineering Presents Grace: a Theatrical Ice Show Experience (ice dancing…is it really safe to dance on ice? I can barely walk on ice!).

-Milwaukee Winter Farmer’s Market.

-Milwaukee Admirals are at home against the Tucson Roadrunners complete with Student Night AND post-game concerts (concerts on ice…is it really safe to have a concert on ice? What if you slip and break your instrument?).

-Milwaukee Wave is at home against the Kansas City Comets.

-Goat yoga at the Cooperage (ooh, I can’t wait to have a goat help me with my Dead Man pose).

-Six The Musical at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.

-Angelic Roots in Oak Creek Presents Sacred Cacao Ceremony AND Awaken Your Soul Workshop.

-Slow Art Saturday at the Milwaukee Art Museum.

-Milwaukee Public Museum’s Survival of the Slowest is still slowly making its way through to May 19th (I’m really good with slow).

-Shamrock Club MKE Post Parade Party at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center.

-St. Patrick’s Day Parade After Party! At County Clare.

-Celtic MKE’s Irish Family Day-Passport to Ireland at Celtic MKE (will Patrick be there?).☘️

-Racine Theater Guild wraps up its performances of The Tin Woman this weekend.

-Next Act Theater continues its performances of There is a Happiness That Morning Is through March 19th.

-Bel Canto Chorus presents Music of Our Times (seems like it’s the time for Irish music?).

-Chicago Botanic Garden continues The Orchid Show: Magnified through March 26th (it is insanely incredible).

Cool orchid at the Orchid Show: Magnified at the Chicago Botanic Garden.

-Live Music/Comedy? Holy Crap Everywhere and WAY too many artists to name individually! Venues include ComedySportz, Shank Hall, Rave, Cactus Club, Jazz Estate, Ally’s Bistro, Red Rock Saloon, Da Bar, Helene Zelazo, Miller High Life Theater, County Clare, Nashville North, Colectivo, X-Ray Arcade, Linneman’s Riverwest Inn, Bar, Centro, Turner Hall Ballroom, Miramar, Club Girabaldi, Potawatomi, Sugar Maple, Cooperage, Suburban Bourbon, Anodyne, Mad Planet, Blu Milwaukee, Sharon Lynne Wilson, Riverside, Pabst, etc., etc., etc.

And there you have it!! Please, please, please enjoy your Weekend. And please take care of yourself and your friends. Get out and enjoy all the good that life has to offer. And always know that being still and quiet and relaxing and renewing is ALWAYS an outstanding accomplishment.

Best regards and I’m hoping to see you around town.

Doc

PS: Happy Note will be taking a little wellness break next weekend (March 17th, 18th, and 19th, 2023) to honor St. Patrick…and Spring Break. Let the good times roll!☘️
